Lionheart and the 4 Rs
The Pioneers’ Centre is part of the Lionheart Educational Trust, whose pupil-centred approach aims to break down barriers between young people and their successes.Lionheart Educational Trust is a multi-academy Trust with 14 mainstream schools across Leicester and Leicestershire. Founded as an academy trust in 2013 by Beauchamp College in Oadby, it grew into a multi-academy trust in 2014.
Both The Pioneers’ Centre and Lionheart believe that every young person, no matter their background, has an equal right to an equal education. Our unwavering dedication to providing Pioneers’ pupils with the strongest foundation for success, is underpinned by the 4 Rs, which are embedded into everyday life across all Lionheart schools.
Based on Professor Guy Claxton’s principles of building learning power, the 4 Rs enable The Pioneers’ Centre to develop an understandable common language with pupils. The 4 Rs are:
Approach to Positive Behaviour

The Lionheart Pioneers’ behaviour for learning approach encompasses Lionheart’s ethos of promoting the 4 Rs to maximise pupils’ engagement, learning and ultimate success.
The 4 Rs are rewarded when they are demonstrated, and lots of opportunity for success is provided. Through these key learning skills, Pioneers’ learners develop a good understanding of the broad concept of an effective leader.
