Curriculum Overview
Pioneers’ pupils are taught in small class sizes by effective subject experts who are trained in managing challenging behaviour, adept in scaffolding and modelling practices, chunking learning effectively and supporting pupils to enjoy making progress and feeling successful.Our aim is for pupils to succeed and make progress in:
- GCSE English
- GCSE English Literature
- GCSE Maths
- GCSE Biology
- Level 2 BTEC in Personal Growth and Wellbeing
Plus, two options from a range of Level 2 qualifications including:
- CNAT Sports Studies
- Level 2 Technical Award in Hair and Beauty
- BTEC Art and Design
The team who deliver the curriculum include expert English, maths and science specialists who have strong subject knowledge and pedagogical skills. These trained teachers have a wealth of experience in delivering GCSE specifications and understand what positive progress looks like. They understand that working on a strong foundation of literacy and numeracy skills are fundamental to a positive life beyond formal education and will break down challenging concepts and overcome barriers so out Pioneers’ learners thrive and enjoy their learning.
In addition to this, we have extremely experienced pastoral and safeguarding leaders who provide mentoring, deliver personal development education, connect with external agencies, track and monitor Pioneers’ students academic and holistic progress to ensure that the provision they receive is alternative enough for them to flourish.
Pioneers learners will have every chance at success at Key Stage 4 with a team who champion them and support them.
