Rotary-funded sports equipment installed at The Pioneers’ Centre

Thanks to the support of a collection of Rotary clubs across Leicestershire, we have been able to purchase £3,200 worth of sports equipment for students at The Pioneers’ Centre to enjoy.

Now installed at our Coalville site are a basketball hoop and frame, a table tennis table and a rowing machine. This new equipment will form the basis of a range of fitness facilities which are currently being created at Pioneers, allowing students to enjoy enriching extracurricular activities.

On this partnership, Rotary member, Martin Weedon, said: "On behalf of the Rotary clubs of Loughborough Beacon, Bradgate, Wreake valley, Coalville and Rotary District 1070 I am delighted to officially make this presentation to The Pioneers’ Centre.

“We all know the important contribution that physical activity makes to supporting a positive learning experience and we are sure the students will put the new facilities to good use.”

Richard Elderton, Head of Pioneers and one of the centre’s Team Leaders said: “The kind donation from Rotary will have a huge impact on our students’ wellbeing and helps them develop their social skills in particular it helps our students with their self-regulation.

“In addition to this it is great for our school community and the students have loved the new equipment.”
